This four week course will give you a window into the teenage brain and help you to understand what and more importantly, what is not happening inside their heads. This course teaches practical parenting strategies, backed by the latest in neuroscience, so you can feel confident and prepared as you navigate this challenging time.

What will I learn?

You will discover why adolescents struggle to see ahead and why you need to be their frontal lobes. This course educates parents with cutting edge research so you can understand how the brain functions and why it is vastly different from our own. This course will help you survive this challenging developmental period and parent from a place of strength, grace and knowledge.

WEEK 1

We look at the role at hormones really play, why you need to be your teens frontal lobes and three winning tips for parenting your teen.

WEEK 2

We investigate learning and sleep and what parenting strategies you can employ to help your teen to thrive in these arenas.

WEEK 3

We talk about the digital invasion on the teenage brain. This includes a little experiment for parents to engage with too, helping you to further understand how technology can hijack the brain.

WEEK 4

We end the month discussing stress, mental health and what is normal vs abnormal behaviour. More than this, we discuss six different strategies to help you manage your teens difficult emotions and behaviour.

Guest Expert

Additionally, we chat with a special guest, Jane Carmignani, fellow Clinical Psychologist who has been working in schools, various clinical settings and private practice for over 20 years. She has a passion for working with children, adolescents and their families. Jane believes that connection is key to fostering strong relationships in families, and relationships that will nurture empathy, resilience and positive wellbeing. There are many challenges facing our young people today and implementing protective factors through family education and support is paramount. Jane loves to hear the stories of families and work collaboratively to develop and strengthen their bonds and mental health.
