A nervous system guide to exploring your next chapter

A short guided reflection for moments when life feels unclear.

When life feels unclear

There are moments in life when things feel uncertain.

You might find yourself questioning:

• your direction
• a career or relationship decision
• what you actually want
• how to move forward

Often the pressure to find the “right” answer makes everything feel even heavier.

But clarity rarely emerges through pressure.

Instead, it tends to develop through reflection, curiosity, and small experiments over time.

A different way of thinking about life decisions

This guide draws on ideas from the Stanford Life Design Lab and the work of Bill Burnett and Dave Evans.

Their research suggests something surprisingly reassuring:

There is rarely just one perfect life path.

Instead, there are often many meaningful lives we could live.

Exploring those possibilities with curiosity can help reduce pressure and open new ways of thinking about the future.

Inside the reflection guide

This short reflection will help you explore:

• three possible directions your life could take
• what your nervous system responds to with energy or resistance
• the idea of “gravity problems” — challenges that cannot be changed directly
• one powerful question: Which life might you regret never exploring?
• small experiments that can help clarity emerge over time

Most people spend around 15–20 minutes moving through the reflections.

You can also return to it slowly over several days if that feels more supportive.

In my work I support adults to understand their nervous system, explore relational patterns, and build the emotional capacity needed to move toward lives that feel more aligned and sustainable.

This guide combines research from life design psychology with a trauma, attachment, and nervous-system-informed lens.
